AirAsia IKHLAS introduces Aqiqah service into its products offerings

28 September 2020, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

As part of AirAsia Group’s digital business expansion, IKHLAS, a line of business under airasia.com catering to Muslims lifestyle platform today launched its latest service, Aqiqah.

Aqiqah is the Islamic terminology, defined as the slaughter of certain animals on the occasion of a newborn child, in addition to shaving or cutting their hair and naming the child.

The new service encompasses Aqiqah Abroad – covering over 35 countries worldwide including Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Palestine, Pakistan and more from as low as RM580 per goat, and Aqiqah Makkah – which will be performed in the Holy City of Makkah from as low as RM499 per goat. The meat from the sacrifice will then be distributed to the needy in the respective countries.

Ikhlas Kamarudin, Head of IKHLAS said:

“We are proud to introduce the Aqiqah service as another easy, convenient and affordable product on our platform beginning with Aqiqah Abroad packages, which will be available in Malaysia soon. Performing the Aqiqah is highly encouraged for Muslims as a show of gratitude for a newborn child, and among the benefits include announcing the birth of the baby, celebrating the occasion with family, neighbours and friends, apart from benefiting the poor and needy. Those who purchase Aqiqah service from IKHLAS will also benefit vulnerable families, students, frontliners and many more who are in need.”

Each Aqiqah service fulfilled through ikhlas.com/aqiqah will also receive BIG Points (earn 1 BIG Point for every RM2 spent) and an official Aqiqah certificate indicating the exact location of each Aqiqah performed with IKHLAS.

IKHLAS is a line of business under airasia.com that mainly caters to Muslim communities around the world by providing unparalleled access to faith-based practices. This includes religious obligations such as Umrah, Qurban and Shariah-compliant lifestyle choices.
